My childhood nickname was "Courtyard" given to me at summer camp. I can think back to those days and remember how blankets and pillows could transform a living room sofa into a magical fort, or how it was okay to walk up to a complete stranger and say "Do you want to play?" or "Do you want to be my friend?". I remember the crisp smell of outdoors lingering on my clothes after spending  dusk to dawn playing capture the flag or catching crawdads in the creek behind our house. Those were The days I measured time by when the street lights came on. Now that my son is born, I  see life through his eyes and it is a great reminder to find joy in the simple things. Oh, the excitement on his face the first time he will see a fresh fallen snow! or how a simple bathroom towel Will be able to turn him into a superhero, ready to take on the world. I've created "Keeping Courtyard" to share ways that I help simplify my life - leaving room to soak in those often missed moments. Follow along as I share my journey in creating margin in my life, leaving room for the unimaginable, finding joy in the mundane, and re-discovering myself with a child-like faith.
